why tree resin un the organic surf wax?

hello...am asking about why i have to put tree resin in the organic surf wax or what is tree resin's function in the mixture??gives more sticky or what??((coconut oil,,beeswax and tree resin))..for cool water btw...thanks

am from alexandria-egypt....theres quite fine waves here at the mediternian sea((like 4meters and above))...anyways...so if i didnt put tree resin so it wont be sticky??and substitute for tree resin cause its hard to find??thx

You've got to add something.
I don't know what else you could use, but you might be able to find something out there that would work.

Hi Micho,
The Northern Light organic boardwax cold and cool water recipes contain pine resin to soften the wax for cold water, we originally got the idea from an old 1920's book which had ski wax recipes for climbing up the slope rather than sliding down it. The best resin is hand picked from the trees but rosin or distilled resinds will also work well, it doesn't have to be pine resin, any tree resin will do.

This could be difficult to get an answer, the thread is over 18 years old and none of the guys have posted anywhere else for a long time!
