FCS in a Future Fins plug

Right, i have a bit of a predicament! I have tons of FCS fins, but the boards that are in good shape all have future fin plugs. I can't get any over here unless someone I know brings them over, because Thai mail is soo bad and the just don't sell them here.

My question is, would sanding down the tabs on an FCS fin, placing it in the future plug (with a touch of resin) hold it? Just as a temporary until I find some Futures

lol i wouldnt risk it, might block the slots? unless you just carved the fcs fins out to be like the futures (if its possible) not really sure, never witnessed such a problem. have you got any future fins at all?

Nope, don't have a pair. It's next to impossible to get some over here which really sucks.

Might have to go and buy someone elses fins.

know you said the shipping is bad? is it really bad, even in 1st class? because if you got them off a website somewhere and then got them delivered in first class it should get to you? but i don't know how bad it is over there

anyway, instead of starting a new topic, just wondering if i could pop a question in, i've had fcs on 3 of my last four boards (the other one was speedfins, but i have the same problem as you there Dec, with not enough around in this country) but i'm not sure whether to get FCS or Futures on my new board? (maybe another make? not sure) any help will be great

RedX or FCS. They have the best selection. As for future, they're an American company and mainly sold in the USA, so it'd be difficult to get them . (I think)

ok cool, thanks, i'll look into REDX to see what they're like, but i might just go with the plain old FCS because their huge range of fins

go for lockbox as you can get an adapter that lets them take fcs too.

i read up some on these:
FCS – If you're traveling or doing a lot of international surfing, the FCS system may be your best choice because you can find FCS fins almost anywhere. They are easily identified by their two post system which doesn't provide the stability of other box systems. The top of the surfboard may start to warp over time because the posts go all the way through to the deck.

Future – Unlike the two post system, Futures grip the entire length of the fin decreasing unusual torque.

LockBox Fin – They also grip the entire length of the fin though the fins are not as available as FCS internationally. LockBox offers a fin adapter so if you were to break a fin while traveling, you could use an FCS fin in the LockBox system. In addition, LockBox allows some movement in the box so you can change the lateral position of a fin. And in the rare event a fin breaks away, it's less likely to take the entire rail.

but i also read up that with the fcs adapters the fins sometimes pop out, i was wondering if this would be unlikely? because i don't have enough money to keep buying fins

oh yea and as for the red x fins, i think they sound cool, but can't seem to fins as many places in the uk that sell them? might be wrong, although they do sound pretty cool, now, the shaper who shaped my board last time has moved away now, so i can't use him anymore, i was wondering if anyone knows any good shapers, preferably specializing in shortboards

It's not too difficult. The board i made for pault northswell shipped a board bag down to me and then i got my local kiteshop to ship it up to paul in newcstle. Just so long as the board is well protected it should be fine.

ok, thanks guys, i need to wait a while to try and sell my board before i can get a new one. i've got £225, in my surfboard kitty, so maybe i could flog some other stuff instead of my current board, depending on how much a new board will cost.
