How cautious to be about repairs when buying a longboard?

Posted by FridayAfternoon
I've narrowed down my longboard search to two used boards, one is like new, the other has and needs repairs. Both are being sold for $350. I'm 6'0, 185lbs, and a "very experienced" beginner (if that makes sense).
1) 9'0 Challenger
Condition: "like new"
Concerns: I don't want to invest in a beginner board albeit in good condition.
2) 9'6 Robert August (Mark Martinson)

Condition: See photos. Long, wide repair on bottom albeit very professionally done. Palm-sized hole on nose that needs repaired; an area under the hole, about the size of a hand is squishy.
Concerns: Yes, it is a Robert August, but I'm worried about the repairs/dings. Giant bottom repair--it looks/feels like a great repair on the surface, but what happened underneath? Nose ding--I don't know whether I'll need to shave it down and layer it back up or whether I could just patch the surface hole.
