How much time have you spent in the water?

Generally it's much easier to learn the basics of surfing on a much bigger board than the one you've shown. However the board isn't too small and your not too big.
So you'll probably get away with it but at the same time you might won't to hire yourself out a much bigger board for your first few goes on the water to get the basics then get onto the board in questions.
Also Mr Joes question is important cause if your not going to spend much time in the water then the board may hinder your progression.

i'm as much as a beginner as anyone can be. only been out in the water twice with a 6 ft board which was the only one i could get a hold of. it was pretty hard and wobbly but i was able to stand up on some white water a couple times. i actually plan to go a lot over the summer, at least a few times a week as im close to the beach (laguna). i'm not gonna by a board just yet realized its way to soon but just need some tips on what kinda board to get. thanks for the previous replies.
