im sure this has been addressed before, but im looking for a new wetsuit for this year. I am hoping to get in the water soon (its 56 degrees right now) and want to have it for the fall season as well. Should I go with 3/2 suit, or are there other choices that might be better?

How cold will the water get where you surf? Do you get cold easily? If you are in between water temps you can always get a 3/2 and wear a 1mm or 2mm vest underneath. Just make sure you get one that fits really well. A 3/2 that fits great will keep you warmer than a 4/3 that fits like shite.

Amen to that.
Ive never worn a wetsuit jacket undeneath my full suit but from what ive heard it can restrict movement a bit more. (like i said just basing it on what i have heard)
I wear a thermo rashvest underneath my 3/2 when its cold. Im a wimp in cold water but survive fine with my 3/2 in 50+ water.

cool guys thanks. low 50s is as cold as I'll be concerned with so i think 3/2 should be good. whats the difference between that and the 4/3? is that thicker?

I've got a 2mm GUL sleeveless vest i wear under my 3/2 when its cold and its ace. Dead cheap (half price online somewhere) and cause its a vest cut i don't even notice its there. Highly reccomended

Yup...the numbers refer to the thickness in mm. The 1st number is for the torso area the 2nd is for the appendages.
