hola!!im thinking about getting a board of my own soon.is there anything i can do to keep it in good condition?how much should i be expected to pay for a brand new or 2nd hand minimal?

Keep the board out of direct sunlight and make sure you put it somewhere secure. Other than that boards dont take much upkeep.

invest on a board bag

what about the wax on the board.do u have to clean it off regularly or doesnt it matter about the build up of wax?

i clean mine off only if it melts in the sun in the summer when its in the car but thats all

i only clean it off when I am changing wax type. Like when it starts to warm up here the real cold wax doesnt work so well...so like twice a year. Oh, and when i go on trips...

The odd bag of crisps and a coke are ok, but keep it in check. My babies are well cared for.

Wax wise i tend to strip when the board if its getting too heavy.
Totally depends on how often you get to surf.

On average i get to surf maybe once a week as an average over a year so i strip my board probably 3/4 times a year.

Keep it out of the sun, If you don't have a board bag on the beach with you cover it with towels. While not surfing at the beach turn it upside down so the sun does not melt the wax.

As far as wax. I clean off and re wax when I need to change the type of wax for water temps. We have 3 or 4 months where I use tropical wax and when the board starts looking bad I change it.

Buy a board bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A board bag is deffinately worth getting!
I take care of my boards. What I do after a surf is wipe it down with a towel, then place it in a board sock and then in the board bag. When I get home I then spray the board down with the hose pipe to keep the board clean from salt, sand....etc
Then just keep the board dry in its bag.

From my other 2 boards, I didnt use a board sock and their bags are dirty with wax, sand, salt..etc So with my newer board I bought a board sock to keep it all clean. Not many people bother but I like using it because it doesnt make my board greasy and dirty...

Don't put the deck (waxed surface) directly on dry sand. It will totally screw with you wax job!
