Surfing Waves

I've been surfing for a while now and feel like its time to get my own board. I've been riding a long board and want to transition. Looking around I found i really like the longer shortboards (6'6-7); Since there are a lot of ppl on here that really know what they are talkin about, and i have no exp. in buyin a board, just wondering what the general thoughts are on these boards, and if its the type of board i should be looking at.

first of all a couple questions need to be answered:
-what type of waves will you be surfing? big, small, medium?
-How long have you been longboarding?
- have you ever ridden a shortboard before? if yes, how did it go?
- height and weight also help

Anyways, arent round pin tails for some bigger waves? i d'ont know about you but i prefer squash tail (\_/ <-squash tail) the one in the pic is rounded pin tail.

i had the same problem before, you need to fill it up

hey, talked to my local shaper...decided to go with a 7' 4'' funboard. Should be good beginner board..thanks for the replies

p.s.- the 50 other posts with the same question about first boards, and those replies helped too; i just had to look a lil harder
