You'll be way too hot in summer in a 5mm suit, so, yes, you'll need a summer suit.

A summer suit is much less restrictive and soooo much easier to paddle in.

Not yet though - will remain winter suit cold for another month or two yet.

I have to agree with what drowning bit by bit said.

The nice thing about moving onto a Summer wetsuit,is how free you feel after wearing a Winter wetsuit, during Winter.

Not so great though, when you have to move back to a Winter wetsuit when the sea get loads colder.

doubt you could last summer in a winter suit, you'd boil up, i sometimes boil in the winter in my suit, though it depends how you feel the cold, would say a 3/2 or a 2/2 would be best

I think, IMO, a 5/4 yuo could possibly surf all year round on the east coast UK, but in the SW you would fry in a winter suit, 3/2 is the way to go in the summer up to early October down there.

3/2 in summer!!

It's a bit late now, but my 'cheapskate' tip is buy your summer suit at the END of summer (when all the winter suits start to come in to the stores) and vice versa for the winter suits - so what if it's 'last seasons' design - they're generally a LOT cheaper!! :D
