Looking for a new board -- something that is a more "all around" board compared to the Rusty C5 that I have. I took a little trip to my local shop today and found this:

6'0 Canyon 21 x 2-9/16
$300

It really is in great condition, almost brand new. There are bearly any pressure marks, dings, or dents. The glass is perfect. And for being an all around board its great cause its so wide and thick.

The problem is I can't find any information about them; I did a search on here but didn't find anything. Alot of places though some say they are a manufactured board from China but were orignally a company that hand made the boards until they sold their name...

I'm really not trying to buy something like that since these are the guys that are putting american hand made surf companies out of business. There are dimesions on the back of it that are hand written but no signature -- does this mean that it was hand shaped? Thanks in advance and sorry about the long post!

Supposedly Canyon Surfboards trademark was sold to a surf shop owner who now gets boards made in China and then brings them to USA and sells them. Not much else is known but that. Just what I heard though, I wouldn't bet my life on it. Supposedly there is made in china written somewhere super small somewhere on the boards where you can hardly see it.

All surfboards with foam core have to be finished off by hand. The majority of the shaping may have been done by a machine but it has to be finished off by hand.
I know it's just buisness but im not a fan of cheap far eastern imported surfboards. If you want a good board to surf your local waves then get one from a local shaper who knows the area.
It's your call though, the board does look nice and i'm sure will work just fine.

Thanks for the quick responses --

I've been hearing the same thing about it being sold off, but at one point wasn't it an American, hand shaped company?

And even if there is writing on the back that doesn't necessarily mean that the board was hand shaped; could have just been finished off by hand?
