What paint can be used on a board?

Alright folks! Has anyone got any experience of spraying or painting up boards that can tell me the best paint to use and how to prepare it?

good you ask this question, i was about to post a thread similar to this one..my 9 yr old niece is really good with painting/drawing, i think she will be an artist someday, anyway, i would like her to paint my board, but i wonder what paint she should use
