new shortboard

I consider myself an intermediate level surfer and I'm currently riding a 6'6", 19.5, 2.5 shortboard and I'm about 175 lbs. I feel very comfortable paddling and catching waves w/my board but I want more responsiveness and looseness when I'm up and riding. I also want to start throwing the tail around a little more and trying some "fins-free" maneuvers and I feel like my current board has a little too much volume for that. Any suggestions for new board dimensions?

well the best place to go is a local pro, but maybe something like, 6'2, 18.5 wide, 2.25 thick? not 100% sure

Maybe a little bigger like 6'3'' or 6'4'',18.75 to 19'', 2.25 to 2.35

i agree with miami, because you are a pretty big guy it seems.
i would go 6.4 or maybe even 6.3.
maybe if you could try some friends, or ask in the water if you can try a guys board

Just a thought, but are you sure its your current board thats holding you back?

At 175 LB you should be able to work a 6.6 pretty good. I'd maybe try a different set of fins first.
