First of all awesome forum. Learning so much here all the time. Thanks :)

I'm in the market for a secondhand surfboard. Was just wanting to get a professional opinion of the boards I am looking at before I purchase.

My skill level;
Can stand up every time. Not great at getting out back in the huge surf, but the boards i've been riding so far are impossible to duck dive.
I can do a bottom turn (frontside), and have only ever done one backside turn yesterday. I have been hiring boards which have ranged from 6'7 - 7'6ish and are very boyant. I'm I am 5'10-1/2 and 79kg.
I surf in Christchurch New Zealand.

The board will also be semi-shared with my girlfriend who can stand up every time in the mushy waves. Rides them all the way to the beach :D I'll buy her one later in March for her birthday, so it is definitly more for me. I have 4 free board hires in Scarborough remaining till I want to buy one. Getting kinda annoyed at swapping boards every time I go out.

What do you guys think of these boards i'm checking out?

$400 NZ is the most i'll spend I think. A fixerupper is off the menu.

That'd do you, but if you're already trying bottom turns, then its probably a touch too wide and thick. And the tailpad is in the wrong place....

And that would be too small for you! Thats a performace board for the kind of waves that you're probably not surfing yet.

I dont think you know what you're looking for if you're putting up both these boards - there's a huge gap between them! If I were you, I'd keep on looking. A funboard shape maybe - something like 6'10-7' x 20 x 2 1/2

Hope that helps.
