delam repair

Ok I picked up a cheap minimal today. the board has a soft spot on it. its yellow and it feels like the foam got melted inside that part. I think the correct term is waterlogged? anyways what is the best way to fix this?

First things first - is the damage that caused the problem still there?

ok it's not waterlogged, its delaminated. it dosent bother me much, I just want to know if it really needs repair and whats the best way to do it. It's my learning board, so I really dont care about the apperance, but if there is an easy fix to it, then why not do it.

any chance of scraping all that nasty wax off and giving us a full shot of the board??? The yellowness is suggesting its a bit knackered how much did u pay for it?

I think its in pretty good condition considering I only payed $75 for it.

take all the wax off and give it a good clean then u can see whats wrong with it better

Looks like a good buy for 75 bucks. In the photos i see an area that is alot lighter is that where the damage is or is it in the yellowy area?
My first thought is it maybe better to leave it for now and surf it and see if the damage gets any worse. Trying to repair it maybe opening a can of worms resulting in alot of glassing work needing to be done.

But some clearer shots of the damage may help give a better idea.

well the wax is pretty much off on the picture, I guess its just the way i took it make it looks like there is alot.

the white spot on it used to have a traction pad that I removed. the yellow area is where the delamination is. I can't wait to try it out tommorow.

Get that repaired, it's not pretty at all. That foam under your finger looks dark brown, it's supposed to be white like under the logo. A little browning is ok, like top left, but that's bad.

Depends where you're located. Right now it might not affect the ride, other than a soft spot when you step, but the problem with delams is that they will spread, because the salt water will eat at the foam that is bonded to the glass, and then will spread across the board and ultimately break in half

So stopping it while it's relatively small is a good idea. Delams are nasty.

thanks for that info. Well I mostly surf o'side pier in cali. Ill go checkout some shops there that fixes board for reasonable price. I don't really want to spend much on this, since I just want to learn on this and eventually move on to my smaller board that I bought before.

try joe roper he's the best repair guy i know of down near mission beach. Althought he repair will cos close to what you paid for the board

I seriously doubt you could get it repaired for less than what you paid for it.
