Hows it going?

Im 6"2 near enough to 14 stone.

Right im in a bit of a dilemma here. I have a 7"3 Mini mal but am gonna upgrade into the 6s. Im looking hard at the Circle one boards who seem to be a bit ahead of other companies in the making of boards. I went up to a surfshop to see the 6"11 Xpose epoxy board, but the guy the volume of it wasnt as good so it would fair sink in the water. So its now between the 6"11 Retro EGG and the 6"8 swallow tail. Anybody have any ideas? I think the 6"8 might be a bit small the the guy said that its easier to surf, the EGG is supposed to be like the mini mal but im not to fond of it i dont know why. Would i have hassle trying the 6"8 cos of my size? Im not surfing that long, well able to pop up and all that lark and do small turns. Cheers...sorry i kinda got carried away :).

kinda got carried away, eh? hehe if you want to move to a shortboard, i would say get the 6'8" or even a 6'6" would do, swallow tail, it should have a wider deck and thicker rails..this should give u the bouyancy of a mini-mal but the maneuvariblity of a shortboard, not really a performance board(for quick turns, eventually you'll want this) but this should be a step closer to it..as u said, u could do small turns, this should be perfect for u..im about 5'7" and i use a 5'11" swallow tail, my everyday board..goodluck! :)

I have a Circle One 6'8" swallow tail (well kinda... it's kind of on a long loan to a friend) and although it's a bit heavy, it take off quick on the wave and you probably won't notice much of a difference in the turns. Anyway, I would say get the 6'8"..... if it's the same shape as mine, it's quick to catch the wave and for some reason stays on through the flatter sections.

If in doubt, try it out.... see if you can have a demo on each board and see how you feel.... you might prefer the egg!

i have a 6'8 swallow tail and its light as a feather preforms super well too. (it was a custom build though that might have something to do with it.
