Rack for a two door car?

Hey guys, what do you guys know of in the way of a rack for the top of my 2 door Ford Focus ZX3? Are there any racks that work with just 2 door cars?

if it has them litte widows at the back you could use these



or there will be a roof rack to fit your car but it will come at a cost

or you can loop it round the hatchback door instead at the back. like round the boot hinges

i think he means open your boot and put the strap throw there and then shut the boot and the rack will be on the roof sounds good too me

by boot i think that they mean your trunk or hatch back in your case

try a thule rack. works fine on my vw polo van

no no no - those soft ones that you attach round the roof don't work on some hatchbacks - i don't have back windows and tried getting mine round the boot window bit and it didn't work cuz the metal always got in the wrong place by the hinge. my advice is to get a proper roof rack instead.

A normal roof rack is alright provided you tie it on pretty sturdy...just find yourselve stopping every two miles to check its still attached!!

Update on the search...

I found a hard rack that fits on top of my car. It's $180 though.

I think I might just buy a soft rack and try different ideas. Maybe one looping through the front door, and then...I don't know...up for suggestions. I'd be driving for at least 3-4 hours with a board up there.

How much did you pay for your surfboard? How much for your car?
I probably sound anal but $180 to make sure your car and most importantly your surfboard doesn't come to any harm doesn't sound that bad of an investment. How much would it cost if your board got wrecked?

How are you intending to secure the rear part under the wheel arches? You'd probably need to extend the straps somehow to make them go all the way around - not sure that would really work.

I'm new around here but found this thread on google.

I spent two hours tonight fitting a rack to my Focus 3dr, I'll get some photos on here tomorrow if people are still interested in this one!

Its a unit from Ford costing around £80, but it looks great and is definitely worth the extra for a genuine Ford unit, see what you think when I get some photos in the daylight.
