Rash vest inside or out?

Postby Johno » Fri Sep 08, 2006 9:19 am

May be a silly question but what is the rash vest for and should they be worn on the inside or outside of your wet suit?

On my first surfing lesson we wore them on the outside of the wetty, when I asked the instructor he said they were for identification,

Can some one please clarify what rash vets are for and were should they be worn

if you're under instruction, then they'll have you wear it out, so they know which surf school you're with. If you're surfing in a comp, you'll wear it out for identification. If you're just surfing normally, you'd wear it inside... I never get problems with wetsuit rash that my rashie ever stops, but it keeps me a bit warmer in the summer

wear it inside!!

They are for a variety of uses.

1. To stop you getting a rash from the neck of your wetsuit (inside)
2. To keep you a little warmer (inside)
3. If you're not wearing a wetsuit they stop the wax scratchin away at your stomach
4. To be worn to clubs at night in Newquay - this makes you look really cool because lots of people will think you are a genuine bonafide pro-surfer
5. Surf schools use them for indentification... (outside)

Anyone else add to my list? I wear mine for reason 2, mainly.

i was being sarcastic, phil!

i really think fish kid, that you should wear the flesh coloured wetsuit with fig leaf that i thought up a few months ago. I'm sure you'd get your drinks bought for you, anyway.

Inside of the wetsuit or wetsuit pullover.

You get surf rash from all the salt in the water (and other crap, depending on how dirty your break is) rubbing between your suit, board, and body.

Rash guards help keep that away from your direct skin.
