Surfing Waves

Just had my New wet suit delivered :)

i made sure i was able to send it back if it didnt fit :) as i ordered online

So when i tried it on it fit like a glove :)

Here is what i got Ripcurl, Core Fire Skin 5/3




Really pleased with this and want to get in the water to try it out.

Can anyone suggest what sort of boots to get ? and would you suggest getting gloves as it is coming up to the winter month's ?

I'd recommend split toe style boots & lobster claw style gloves.
I've got ones from XCel which have been great.

C skins split toe 5mm boots are great, feet didn't get cold once last winter.

Not sure about the best gloves, I wouldn't recommend mits, i used mits last year and they were rubbish, hands were freezing after half hour.

Guna get myself some thick 5mm gloves this winter.

My Billa-Bong 3mm Gold boots are very warm in freezing waters, totally recomend them....

Xcel gets my vote.

get some boots with nice soles on them, usefull for walking out to those rockier breaks. And get mitts not gloves with fingers.

I got some Alder mits last winter and they were fine. First couple of times I wore them my hands cramped up slightly from being squashed together but they were fine and warm

Stear clear of O'neil slx gloves mine fell to bits in about 3weeks

how was the paddling with mitts on gloves never keep my hands warm and they allways feel really heavy

mitts are easier to paddle in, feels a bit weird at first but they can even give a bit of a help.

looks like im going to get some boots and gloves in the next couple of weeks just need to find the most comfortable one's :)

also i have seen on some site's they do a balaclava type head cover thing !!!

im not going to go for one of these as well !! but has any one tried these ???

Horrible things - really claustrophobic

A cap is better, for me at least.

yep, a cap is less claustrophobic but not as warm, i have one of those balaclavas and i hate using it. Its a little better since i figured out how to remove it in the water and not lose it, so i would say the best compromise is either one you can slide off you head so it stays round you neck (without restricting your breathing ) or a wetsuit/rashie which has one built in. That way you can have it on for the initial paddle out and slip it off to surf (its rarely that cold you need to keep it on but it does make a difference on the way out duckdiving those icy winter waves)
