Is there a limit to what can be restored?

Hi all, im new to this forum, so hello!
I have an old 70's single fin at home, a really fab old fat boy single fin shortboard, which i would like to do up and surf, however had a closer look this weekend and its actually pretty knackered, alot of the outer shell is delaminating and there are plenty of holes.
Basically im wondering if there is a limit to what can be done to a board in terms of restoration? Would love to hear from anyone who has restored a board themselves, and particularly if it was in a very poor state.
Many thanks
Dan

with the right amoutn of sanding and glassing anything can be restored but probably not to its exact shape

Might as well start with a fresh blank...

If i liked the board that much i'd do both! I'd get a new blank and shape and glass myself a new one but i'd also restore the old one. I'm fairly confident you can restore most boards just as driftalong's photos show.
How's about some photos and we can give you a much better idea.
Oh by the way your not a friend of "I'd rather be surfing" by any chance are you???

I'm not saying it's the cheaper way to go; just that it can be done.
