Hello, i am pretty new at surfing, and before i go out for real, I want to make sure I am doing every thing right. I just bought boardshorts for the first time, and i am wondering what i should wear under them? I heard boxers are the best bet.
I just dont want to look like a real noob when i go out for the first time.
Thank you

Ummm huh?????
Wear what ever is comfortable!!!! most surfers aren't out there to make a fashion statement (although i have met many girls who do!) and arent going to laugh at you if you wear boxers under your boardies! I know people that wear nothing under them, so just do what ever makes you comfy!

You're gonna look like a newbie whatever you do, and no amount of boardshorts its gonna change that. Relax, enjoy the surf, forget the image.

If its churning I will normally free ball it, no problems with sand then; otherwise I wear what ever I have on as durring summer I wear boardies most of the time.
Hint: Just put on a nice red pair of budgy smugglers, its a great traditional look

..i like to wear a nice pair ... (you know this aint gonna be right huh guys hehehe) ... yes , i like to wear a nice pair of 1880's cancan knickers as the frills add a nice touch to my overall outfit ..they also act as a plankton filter for my on-board sperm whale ... if thats a bit daring then just go with a plain old G'string with elephants trunk novelty posing pouch .. you know, play it down a bit ...

If it's gonna be a long session in warm water I wear lycra bike shorts.
Stops rash before it starts. Cold weather... Nothing :) Wetsuit over em.

A lot less "fritghtening to contemplate" then "1880's cancan knickers" or "G'string with elephants trunk novelty posing pouch"

; I have to say you must of put a bit of thought in to those two ya cheeZee old man

Judging by the photos I have seen of all you UK guys in that cold water... it looks like you wear gimp suits to get wet anyway
