How do you become a shaper?

I think that would be the best or only cure for flat cruddy spells.

Anyone ever built or want to build their own board?

Has anyone designed their own board or the artwork, paintwork on there?

I have recently found an interest in the techniques and challenges of shaping. I have been trying to buy up old pieces of ____ and fixing them. As you do this you can feel the contours of the board rather than just looking at it. If I were you I would study the shape of the best boards of our time and then when you feel like you know the physics behind it all then buy a blank and do it. Sure you'll thoroughly jack it up but didn't you get yourself jacked the first few times you tried surfing. You can get really old boards for cheap off of e-bay and just practice on them. If you sand all the glass off then you can still shape the foam or make small "improvements", trying out all your ideas. Of course, there is probably a class or some bologna like that.
