Sorry but another what board

Postby Spryte360 » Wed Feb 01, 2006 3:31 am

I'm a beginner surfer and i'm 13 years old, about 5'1, and about 100 pounds. I hear mini-mals and long boards are easy to learn on. What size/style board would be ideal for me?

Sorry to double post but where I live on Pensacola beach Florida, the waves are usually pretty small. I would be out a t the beach alot though, so the board would get alot of use.

I'd go for a mini mal. They're easy to learn on but you can also ride bigger waves. They can be used as a longboard as well as a shortboard so after you have learn't the basics you can go on to ride bigger waves. Read the beginners board guide on the site. It'll be a help.

Get a mini-mal.
And as you're not all that tall/heavy, stick to something about 7' - 7'6.
You'll struggle with anything bigger.

Shortboards are hard to learn on, but I'd also say that a 'proper' longboard is too. So go with an in-between mini-mal
