Surfing Waves

I am thinking of getting a new longboard, but dont know whether i should get a mini-mal?
I have a shortboard that i can surf on..so not a complete beginner!

i am about 5'8 and 70kgs
i dont ride on very powerful waves, but they get like overhead on a good day.

What is it about longboarding that appeals to you?

Bear in mind that a minimal is a 'reduced' longboard, with 3 fins for more drive.
As such, you can only perform 'reduced' longboard moves*.

The offside of this, is that it lets you perform drawn-out shortboard moves too*.

(*-generally speaking)

I am only looking to get some fun waves..not a hardcore surfer!?
But i hav akready had a shortboard, so i think I shal get a longboard
