New Board size

Hey guys looking for a bit of advise,

I have been in Sri Lanka surfing for about 3 weeks, renting a 6'2 board with 40.5l and definitely ready to go down to a smaller board.

Now I'm back I want to buy my own board (second hand) and was thinking about a 6ft around 34l.

I've seen some boards that look good that are closer to between 32-30l, do you think this will be too small and I'll end up getting frustrated in the UK waves?

Thanks

Lots of questions you should ask yourself: how tall/heavy are you, age, surfing ability, style of surfing waves you’ll be riding. All those things factor. Also, why do you want a smaller board? Was the 40L getting in the way of what you wanted to do on the wave? How did you feel the 40L was holding you back?

Sort yourself out and rent a board(s) or borrow a friend’s at smaller sizes and Goldylocks them until you find a fit.

FWIW I personally have boards in different sizes and volumes. If its a log or mini mal day, or a 6’10’ single fin or a 6’3” thruster, different boards fir different waves and moods. Vague point I was trying to make is that all those boards “fit” me per what Im wanting to do and the conditions Ill be in.

Have you had a surf session at your current UK home break on your usually "go-to" shortboard yet ?
