The Most Stuck of all Stuck Fins

Hey all,

I’ve got 4 stuck fins on a quad setup (Futures). So all of them. I put the fins in relatively recently (3 months ago) and was going to take them out and clean them to prevent them getting them stuck. Nothing I can do makes them even budge. I’ve tried pulling down, wiggling, and using a little lever system (which I’m going to try again with some better equipment later). Not a single iota of movement.

They weren’t hard to put in, though I did sand one down to make it fit better. I’m pretty lost one what to do. So I would like general advice, and the verdict on soaking the tail in some warm water (not hot) to try to dissolve away any salt crystals. I would do it now but I’m worried about delamination in what is otherwise a pretty new board. Also, is this a board issue since it’s all 4 fins?

Thanks in advance.

Question: did you pull the grub screw all the way out and shoot liquid in thru there ?

I have a pool so I throw a board in to soak if fins are a little stuck. Shooting water in the grub hole is pretty clever and would achieve the same results Is imagine.

Generally I’ll lay the board across something like a table or sofa where it is braced but you won’t either accidentally drop it or crank some unwanted pressures into either side. Then I wrap a dish towel around the fin and pull it out. Sometimes takes a little sweat.

Had a stubborn one that I sprayed wd40 all around the fin and let it soak. Not recommended since even after scrubbing down after there was a greasy flim and smell that wouldn’t go away until I stripped all the was and really washed the board with soap and water. Seemed like it went everywhere but I got the fin out.
