I have a brand new fin in my board, the roll pin seems to be plated steel not stainless. Boardshop tell me this is normal and refuse to look into the problem despite spending £1000 with them - but after 35 years on the waves have not seen this before.
The stain is after 2 hours in the surf before removing for storage. Any advice?

Same diameter brass rod cut to size insert into hole , if it is a little tight, slightly bevel one end and use that end in hole and gently tap in. You can fix it further using a small amount of solar resin as a lubricant on pushing the pin in then exposing the fin to the sun ( both sides) for longer than normal cure time to allow truly setting file off excess!

I had to replace one just last year and found the pin size below worked well for my fin. If it helps I bought one from Zoro Select MPN: 5BY38. I think most fins use this as a standard size. I'm surprised some dont use stainless for that type of risk/reward. I replaced mine with stainless, so hopefully I wont need to mess with it again
Thank you Naeco, thats great. Yes a great shame that it was rubbish, especially for the cost of the fin. Futures have since been in touch with the same info. So thanks Futures. Still disgusted that boardshop claimed it is ‘fit for purpose’ so would not help. Can get 10 off ebay for £1.50
