Most shapers have built up a shed of tools for the job over years!

Many also have a set of profiles for various size boards and rocker details.

Often first boards are shaped by hand planing not power planers ( foam mowing ) as tool control with power is needed to stop mistakes happening quickly.
So in answer to your question, expect to pay goodmoney for that sort of kit, if you can make good boards and sales then it may be worth it!

You also need that mask and dust protection , noxious dust and fumes, a place to shape so neighbours are cool!

You can cherry pick a few less for basics, how keen are you?

1) How long has Greenlight surf supply been in business ? Do you think they’re a fly by night here today gone tomorrow business?

2) What items do you think are frivolous / unnecessary that they’re trying to dump off on unsuspecting customers?

3) Some things they didn’t include are a “brick” and “hot wheels car”. Shapers use a foam wrapped brick to hold down the blank. They attached a pencil to a toy car to help make a pin outline on the board.

4) How many ding repairs have you done ? How many large laminations ( buckles, etc ) have you done ? Is it possible for you to just shape the blank and have someone else glass it ?
