SURFBOARD RESIN POLY

Hello
I was looking for any advice on how to fix this kind of issue with poly resin on my sons surfboard...
I did this paint job for him then I used laminate resin with 2% hardener but the resin started to gel too fast. I had to stop spreading the resin and now I have an uneven coat with lots of bumps and unfilled spots...

Maybe just sand it down and polish it or use 600 grade wet sand to finish it. I would try a sanding block so it takes the ridges off first. See if anyone else has ideas though. You would need to be careful not to sand through to the paint.

As OMS says really. The quickest way would be with a DA sander, but by hand with a sanding block will also work. Make sure you use a block as it will take off the high spots first and flatten the coat. If you use only your hands you'll sand through the resin and damage the paint job. You'll be able to tell when it's flat because there will be no more dimples, the whole board will be uniform, but dull. Then use finer and finer grit paper to take out the sanding marks until you are ready to finish with some polish or rubbing compound. Once you get upto something like 1000 grit paper, you can wet sand it which will really shine it up.
