Surfing Waves

Has anyone tried using different fin templates for there frontside and backside rails? I know shapers have been doing that for awhile now with Asymmetrical boards (Quad boxes and longer rail for backside), but what about trying the same concept for a standard symmetrically shaped surfboard using different fin templates?
I was surfing steep Hurricane waves with a new set of Pivot fins today and my board kept sliding out on my backside bottom turns, but it was working awesome going frontside.
I had to switch back to my normal Rake fins after awhile, but it got me thinking if it might work well to use different fin templates (i.e Rake & Pivot) on opposite sides of the board. Has anyone tried this before? Any major drawbacks?

No, thought asymetrical board had the fins boxes placed differently, on top of different sizes, never looked into it

Yeah I was thinking of just having different fin sets in a standard thruster setup.
Here's what I was thinking for the Pivot and Rake fin that I was using yesterday.

What you got to lose? Just try it and if it doesn’t work, walk back to the car and switch it out.

Nice chan, I really like that setup you have. That's a massive Keel.
So you have the Keel on your frontside rail and the Quad for backside?

20 years away from surfing.. trying to work my way back up to 1st peak cred again . I think I feel down a rung again after blowing a few of those sets Kidding but true

No, actually opposite. I tend to over push my backside bottom turns, so the keel holds tighter.
