So I’ve just purchased my first board... I picked up a second hand board. On arrival i’ve noticed that it has tail damage around what looks like a previous repair...

Could anyone possibly advise whether this is an immediate problem / minor or major problem?

Thanks,

TJ

It's an immediate, minor problem. You need to fix it, but it's not a major job.

Ok, thanks

Would you recommend any surfboard repair shops in particular? ( UK )

Just use a ding repair kit. Find a tutorial if you don't know how to fix it.

If you decide to repair it yourself make sure you identify the type of foam, if it is EPS ( polystyrene) foam then you need to use epoxy resin, any other resin will dissolve your board.
If the foam is PU polyurethane then normal resins are OK .
It still amazes me that people buy boards without examining them thoroughly ! .

If you don’t think you can do the job google surf shops near you one may do repairs, or our UK crew might recommend someone :D

That's an epoxy board, fix it. Make sure to let it dry at least a week first so as not to trap in moisture.
