Surfing Waves

Hi! I'm trying to choose between these two boards:

- 6’9 SuperFish 4: 20 3/4" x 2 5/8", Volume: 45L

- 6'4 Hayden Hypto Krypto (Future flex), Volume: 43.2L

I have been surfing a fat 41L 5'10 fish (5'10, 22 1/4, 2 4/5) with a large swallow tail, which is has next to no rocker and a wide swallow tail. I want something which turns a bit easier, but still paddles good. My fish is often so fast that I am unable to control the speed.

I am able to do a decent cutback on the fish when the wave fattens out, but my bottomturn feels like the board is slipping out. My weight is 84 kg and height 6'2 (188 cm).

The board I have now:



I also have 6'2 DHD switchblade 34.5 L, which is a little small to me in the average conditions I surf.

To sum up:
- I'm looking for a board that is a little easier to control down the line (bottomturn without feeling like slipping out)
- Paddles easy
- Works in small to big conditions
- Work with placement of feet for turning

Which of the two aforementioned boards should I go for? How do they compare to each other and to the fish I have now?

Could you explain more clearly. Do you mean more forgiving if you try to turn with your feet not in the optimum place on the deck ?

What I meant to say was that I want to get a little bit bigger board, so that I need to have my feet in the right position to make it turn. So I learn correct technique and foot placement

Does the “Flying Fish” already has a traction pad installed?

I would go with the the 6'4' HS for what you're looking for.
The 6'9' SuperFish might feel kinda boaty or bulky for performance or surfing more in the pocket.

Just a thought have you tried larger fins (or stiffer Carbon fins) in the Fish? It might give you some of the grip you're looking for. Or maybe a trailer/5th finer if youre mostly riding as a quad setup. It made a big difference on my similar sized Groveler when they waves get some size
