Foamie repair? Snapped in two...

Hi all

I had a major fail with a foamie board on the roof and the wind snapped it.

I am pretty sure it is a lost cause but it is quite a decent foamie and it is my kids one! Also reluctant for something to end up in landfill

Wondering if anyone has any advice on whether a repair could be possible

The break is quite clean and as you can see the plastic underside is folded but intact. I was wondering whether to do something like remove the underside, cut back around the break, put some stakes in and rejoin, fibreglass a few inches around the break etc

Anyway I thought I would ask

Cheers

Spend your money on getting a new board for your kids, so many good intentioned surfers have lost their foamies to wind shear!
Which way did you have it on the roof of the car, fin up fin at front , fin down at facing back, fin up facing back? On top of other stuff?

Thanks Jaffa, I thought as much.

I had fin up, nose to the front. It was in a bag on top a long board but because of the sizes difference I had the foamie too far forward. I should have removed the long board fin and pushed it further back, but glad to hear I am not the first

Thanks:)

What would you put on the sponge deck side to repair that area ?

How much area in front of the break is there still left ? 5 feet ?

Hi, I haven't thought that bit through really.

The board is 5'6 I reckon above the break is about 3.5 to 4ft :)

Too bad, was hoping it was a 8-9 footer and you can make the front remaining part into a "Mini-Simmons" by squaring off the tail, seal and re-skin and lastly mount some plastic bolt on twin fins.

That would have been nice, it would have to be a mini mini mini Simmons!

Definitely done!
Non repairable!
I drove with a foamie on the roof at a speed higher than 100 for more than 100 miles. How does it break? Only one holder?

It wasn't strapped right, strap was too far back which was because of the other boards under it
