What material is my board?

I've just bought a second hand Firewire Baked Potato - the one with the wood finish. It has a couple of little dings that I'd like to repair, but I don't know whether it is PU or EPS. Does anyone know?

More generally, how can you tell what a board is made of? Is it possible to know just by looking at it?

From the firewire site it says EPS core and Paulina wood deck skins. I don't think there is anyway to know what material the blank is made of other than examining the foam itself. You can tell the resin by sanding a little and polyester resin will have a strong smell but epoxy not so strong however that doesn't tell you the foam used.

Thanks. You're clearly better at Googling than I am.

In other words, repair it with epoxy resin. Polyester resin will melt the EPS core.
