long dent on bottom

Hi everyone,

found this used board for a very good price, but I am not sure if the long dent across the midsection of bottom would need a little bit of attention before getting wet again.
The rails are not affected (yet) and the board still feels stable...

Nice brand often forum approved. That long dent will be where the board will snap, as you said the rails aren’t effected yet, so there is some life in the board but you will find it will go !
It has seen hard days as a surf school board I would be looking for water marks and whether it feels heavier than the same model!

What you cannot see weakness the dent causes, filling doesn’t take away the loss of the glassings integrity, filling the dent just adds weight.
Depending on the original glassing it could last a long while go a peculiar set of wave forces could do it in quickly
It is fixable but a more expensive job than a fill in.

If you are a handy capable person a proper fix would be a good learning experience. Lots of videos around.

You do need to take into account the type of foam on this board.

Yeah, only filling the dent with resin will not provide strength. If it were mine, then I lay glass on it to strengthen this area. I would not use 6 oz or thicker glass. I'd use one layer of 4 oz glass or two layers of 2 oz glass. Before glass, I'd place Q cel or other glass bead filler mixed in resin in the dent. The glass weight and fill material are suggested to keep the repairs light. It's possible to change a board's character or behavior by applying too much material in repairs.
