Where do you live?
Not sure. I usually pay 20-30 for a leash

The weak point of that leash is the joint after the swivel but before the cuff of the ankle strap. Where there is a slight indention. I would recommend you a different leash.

Check to see if your local surf shop sells used gear. I got a very nice leash for $10

I think that you are better off with a new original wavestorm leash than with a used one or a cheap one.
I surf the wavestorm (Costco board) with the original leash. It’s totally OK. Had to switch to another leash because of the broken original one. And, didn’t notice much of a difference.

Thanks for the reply.
A new original leash? That is what I will have as I didn't buy the wavestorm yet.
I haven't got the wavestorm yet, am getting it this week so I have no experience with its leash but from what I have heard from owners is that once the leash twists up a bit it becomes problematic. I was thinking of getting a leash with swivels and putting it on the board when I get it and tossing the leash that comes with the board.

If you are on a budget I would just use the bundled leash at least once to try, maybe it will bother you or maybe it won't. It's not so bad that it's unusable, put it that way.
Trying it will give you an idea of perhaps what length or thickness you prefer in a replacement leash. Normally you buy a leash equal to the length of the board (so 8'), but a 7' leash will actually just about extend the full length of the board.

Just don’t wrap it around your surfboard too tightly or don’t even wrap it all.
Apply your “leash” towards a purchase of a sock (not sure whether a wavestorm still comes with one). You can get a used one for 5-10 bucks. And, just stick a leash inside that sock.

Thanks for the post.
You mention a 7 foot leash, why wouldn't I just get a 8' leash (the length of the board).
Thanks

An 8' leash would be the standard choice for an 8' board, as you want a leash that can extend the length of the board.
But I only recently discovered that the leash dimensions don't include the extra pieces at either end (nothing you have to worry about though.)

I don't know if that's only me but I'd rather get a new cheaper leash than buying a used one, to be honest.
