Tailpad location on this McKee 6'5 board?

Hey all!

I just bought a board from a friend. It's a Fanatic McKee Compline (or something like that), 6’5 x 19 1/2 x 2 3/8. I really like to have a tailpad on my boards, so I want to put one on this one as well. I already have one: https://www.dakine.com/en-us/sport/surf ... ce-pro-pad . I was planning to put it on my Torq TEC M2 8'0 but it's much more useful on this shorter board.

So now the placement... From what I read online (and from what I see on my FireWire Addvance 6'10) it should be placed somewhere above the fins, with the back of the pad placed above the back fin.

I took some photo's of how I'm planning to attach it, but I'd like to check with you guys that this is OK. So can you please check my photo's and let me know if you think this is the right location?
Oh, and the tailpad is still unused (obviously :D ), so I can move the pieces a little further from eachother when I attach them, they're now still together on the protective foil.

Thanks :)

Move it back a couple of inches so the front of the ridge is over the middle of the back fin. Every board is a bit different but that’s usually the best all round point. Even slightly further back than that is ok. The back of the pad will likely be very close to the leg rope connector

Talking of which, the orange rope part is too long. You don’t want the thin rope to wrap around the rails - let the ‘rail saver’ part of the leash (the flat black bit) be able to live up to its name. The orange bit only needs to be just long enough to attach the leg rope - an inch or two

I would put the back of the pad right up to the "c" on the fanatic word. So like DTC said, another 2 inches or so back.

Thanks guys! I'll move it a bit further back.

@dtc: thanks for the tip on the leash, I'll adjust that as well
