Hey all!

I just got done repairing a few minor dings on a garage sale find and had a question around bringing back the "glossy" appearance of the fiberglass. I'm not sure if it's possible, but as the board is black/grey it shows pretty badly where I've done the repairs. I've progressively upped the grit of sand paper (120>240>400>800 (wet)>1000 (wet)) so it feels perfectly smooth to the touch, but it still has a bit of a dull appearance compared to the areas around the repair. Do I just need to keep going up in the grit on the sandpaper? I'm a motorcycle/car guy, so I have rubbing compound around, is that worth a shot? Or should I just not worry about it?

For the record, the board is a Steve Brom fish, series 23, 3 of 10. It's a great little board!

Try buffing it out with your polish.

This a repair I did on a friend’s gloss polish board. I did use wet sanding but I didn’t use polish. I used something else.

There is a product called cerium oxide which is use to polish glass. It heats up with friction and literally melts the glass surface to a shine. I wonder if a super light application would work on a gloss finish board.
