May need some help with a wetsuit!

Postby AngusA » Mon Jul 08, 2019 8:06 pm

Hey all!

A bit new here, well quite new! I’m based in the UK and am in the market for a new wetsuit given I am both getting my PADI training and doing various field courses for my university degree on top of doing various water sports as hobbies!

However, I cannot find the right size wetsuit AT ALL! I am 6ft tall, have a 31” (81cm) chest, a 26” (66.4cm) waist! (I don't know if sights required hip measurements?) I have just hit a wall finding the right one.

Is there a chance anybody could please recommend something that could work for me? I have had a look at some brands but the sizing is just not right :(

Thank you!

Take a look at custom suits which can be made to order. Here's one source...

The needs in wetsuits differ greatly, a diving wetsuit would not be suitable for surfing, entry, fastenings, boots and gloves are different.
See if you can get to a surf shop and a dive shop and see the difference.
There are no universal wetsuits , for dive suits too there different needs to support weight belts tanks flotation vest a surfing would break down quickly.

Thank you! I'll take a look. I have a feeling it's going to have to be a custom made suit.

That's what I was thinking whilst looking. I emailed my PADI centre today about this and asked as to which suit they buy, in terms of a diving one or a regular surf one. They said for regular in pool sessions and most open tepid water ones I will be find with a surf wetsuit, but if I wanted to take it further, which I will do, they will provide a dive suit!

Thank you though for your help! Much appreciated :) I'm thinking at least if I buy a regular wetsuit I'll still be able to use it for surfing.
