Surfing Waves

Hi people
I am going to learn to surf this year
I am 64kg (141lbs) 176cm. Swimming twice weekly and well fit.
I will surfing by weekends and on vaccantion manner. On local Greece and Bulgarian spots with 2-4ft waves.
And also vacantions trips to Spain & Portugal

All i learn from web reading for now is that i need to start with longboard and that Torq Surfboards are preety good and durable for begginers.
I am going to buy one from amazon - 8.6 ft Longboard TET Epoxy
My budget is around 500 Euro.
Can you give me some reccomendations, advices or/and comments about my choice.

Torq 8.6 ft Longboard TET Epoxy is a great choice - good for your skill level, your weight and your waves. Epoxy is tough so can survive a few bumps, which always happen with beginners (and everyone else). Torq is a good brand

So buy it.

If you find surfing hard, it wont be because you bought the wrong board (note - everyone finds surfing hard!)

Agree with dtc. That specific Torque board is an excellent choice. There's a regular contributor in this forum that owns four of them. He has them stores them in different locations to make travel easy. I have watched him and have tried his Torque board. I think you will like one very much.

To confirm, you are correct to realize it is best to begin on long board. In addition, there is always potential that you like long board so much that you never use a short board. (like me)

Also agree. Torq makes excellent boards for beginners and intermediates. Also agree on the suggested length. Your waves are small and you're just beginning, so a long board is what you want.

I sold 1 of them and own 2 NSP and 3 Torq now. I surfed NSP all summer and I don't really like it. It's not so forgiving like the Torq and it is a little harder to catch waves. Considering selling my NSP and going back to Torqs!

As a proud survivor of three spot jaw fracture (metal plates and quite pricy surgery), I would recommend getting a soft one instead.
And, I own five boards including 9’ torq.

A minimal surfboard is what l recommend for most beginner surfers. It is the mid-range of surfboards lengthwise varying from about 7-8ft and about 2 5/8″ – 3” thick. The width of a minimal can vary to cater for the rider but typically they are about 20 1/2″-22 1/2” wide. But according to your physical condition，8.6 ft Longboard TET Epoxy is a good choice.
