Surfing Waves

Hi, I'm a landlocked (beginner) surfer and I want to practice my surfing using a surf skate. I also skate a regular skateboard. After doing some research I think I'll buy a YOW surfskate (Pipeline model)). Because it has a locking screw for the front truck system, it can be turned into a normal cruiser board in no time. Because I also want a normal cruiser skateboard this is a very interesting option without having to buy 2 expensive boards. thing is, I'm a little sceptical with the 'two in one' option. Anyone has experience with YOW boards? When locked, does it role stable enough like a normal cruiser?

P.S. If I would have enough money I would go for a Smoothstar and additional cruiserboard

I have a Carver, it doesn't lock but it cruises just fine. Not as fast as my longboard, but it gets me around with no problem. Since you don't always have to pump for speed, you can just ride it like a normal skateboard. I suppose the only real benefit to the locking front truck is if you plan on doing hills.

I ride a Carver occasionally, not near as much as somebody who skates every day. I'm also not much of a skateboarder. With that said, I find the surf/skate board is higher off the ground and I've had to get used to that. If I wanted a workhorse skateboard, I'd probably go with a regular board and ride my Carver when I wanted to simulate surfboard pumping. I suspect your two-in-one board will still feel different from a regular board because you'll most likely be higher off the ground when you skate it. If that doesn't bother you at all, then go for the two-in-one. I suspect the surf/skate board will always feel different from a regular board. Go and test ride both boards and see if the difference between the way they ride is significant to you.
