Glass on fin transit damage

Postby Doolie » Sun Sep 30, 2018 9:25 pm

Hi I've just brought back a Christenson fish from America and it has received a Knock on one of the fins. I've inspected the glass and cannot feel any cracks and the fin doesn't seem to have any movement. What would be the best plan of action remove and refit or leave well enough alone and hope it holds.

It looks like a nicely glassed board, personally I would remove and re-glass. there will be glass rope used along the base of the fine. that's what's damaged, if it does go it will likely take a chunk of the board with it and be a bigger repair and potentially a lost fin.

you may get away with grinding out the old glass rope and refilling with a patch
