Hey does the whole “ride this board 2-4inches shorter than your height” deal matter much? If the dims and volume suit could i ride a board 2 inches taller than me if theyre saying ride it a few shorter with out a great deal of trouble? Is it just about foam placement around the chest? Cheers

It is pure sales pitch!
How well,do,you ride?
If good maybe you might go down in length and easily, if you want to!
Want ride a longboard, ride a longboard.
The almighty, THEY are only a set of anonymous opinions who haven't seen you surf, sales pitch.

Ride what you want to, simple!

I commonly see the sales pitch of "ride this board 2-4 inches shorter than your current GO-TO board". This usually refers to grovellors or fish board in comparison to the typical high-performance short board. So if your GO-TO short board is 6'2", they recommend a 6'0" to 5'10" in their grovellor/fish model.

If you want to fudge the size up, rather than fudge down, you shouldn't be on that model. You can get 10 boards with all the same dims and volume, but they will all ride differently due to rocker, rail, tail, concaves, wide point, etc.

What board is your current "Go-To" board and what is the board you're thinking about getting ?

I ride a chilli rare bird at 5’4 and a js revolution at 5,7 both around the 24l mark. Ive had a board that was around the 30L mark previously but i could hardly paddle it due to the foam being distributed under my head rather than my chest - ie it was 6 inches too long for me. Im looking at a CI neckbeard. Cheers
