Hey, just wondering what to do with a ding like this in the bottom of my newish board. Am I good to just sand it down and fill with epoxy?

Ouch! What happened? Did it take any water?

did the old try-and-suck-water out trick and don't think any got in but not really sure when it happened. crowded day in the water. letting it dry out for a week in any case.
How bad does it look?

I think I would sand it down and put epoxy Solarez on it

Maybe contact Firewire by email to ask what best to use with Helium Tech?

Yes that would probably be the best next to taking the board to a firewire repair guy

Having never repaired a board before, do I sand the crack all the way down till it's smooth? Or just sand it to be rougher before I throw the epoxy on. Thanks a ton guys.

I would sand it so you can't see any cracks but not necessarily smooth. You want to smooth it out after the repair. Be sure to remove the dust left behind. My only reservation would be that I am not familiar with firewire construction or materials as recently I was made aware of boards made with different materials other than epoxy or polystester resin

Think plain epoxy will work fine. Sweet man, thank you. Think I need to use a rotary tool or will sandpaper + elbow grease do okay?

I have used a manual sanding block. It requires a lot more effort compared to polyester resin but doable.
