Crazy Looking Fins

Hey guys,

that might be a really stupid question to you but i couldn't really find a solution on the internet. So what i was wondering about is why most surf fins have a pretty same loking style in terms of whats printed on? Most of them just have one colour or some boring kind of pattern. I mean there are surfboards with all kind of spaced up colour themes and design on but the fins stay the same.

So you think it's because it's difficult and expensiv to print crazyer designs( e.g. animals, fruits etc.) or you think people just prefer "normal" fins?
I'm looking forward to your answers.

I think perhaps it is just a small canvas to paint on. I did a quick google search and found this https://www.etsy.com/market/surf_fin_art

You are looking st boring fins, there are lots of design pretty fins, but function over pretty wins though red fins go faster

Thank you guys for your answers.

BUT:
@oldmansurfer : i also found these beautiful fin art pieces ... but because they are painted after producing i think their functionality is dercreasing (using paint and sandsandpaper, extra layers)

@Jaffa1949 : for sure function is more important as the look but if they would already produce them with a more crazy design on their would be no loss in function right ?

For example FCS fins were held in majority shares by Australian investment Bank, Macquarie Bank, so no artistic joy there.
Bespoke fin makers now that the original FCS patents have expired may be producing art fins.
Another thing you could do to enhance your flair is DIY paint your fins and board bottom with Porsca pens!

I doubt it affects performance much.
