using "Solacure Epoxy Resin" with fibreglass clothe

Hey guys, I'm new here.
I know this a stupid question but I am giving it a shot anyway. My board has a couple of stress cracks near the tail, so I bought a ding repair resin for surfboards. After I sand down the cracks, can I use fiberglass clothe with this resin to make it stronger?

That's a fibre filled resin, ie. it has small strands of fibreglass already in it. It is normally used on its own as a sort of lazy repair.

The proper way to do it is with resin and cloth, but this method is more time consuming, hence the existance of the type of products that you've bought. You could try cutting a little piece of glass mat and wet it with the resin and see what happens. It should work, but those products are often UV cured, so you might not have much time to work with it before it hardens.

I think you want the solarez without fiberglass added. Then you need to be in a covered area with no sunlight coming in. The you have lots of working time but you also need a sunny day and need to place the board in the sun to cure (2 hours I think) No sun no cure. Then it is a lot of sanding and maybe another coat of just resin

My solar rez tip: don't use the popsicle stick that comes with the product. I apply the resin with my fingers using latex gloves. Depending on the ding, I can usually skip the sanding part if I apply the resin well. Clean the glove off and reuse it so it doesn't end up in the esophagus of a bird on Midway Island.

That product is meant to be used without glass. If it is just shatters not on the rail I would just use that product sand and apply. Rails get hit a lot and so I would make a stronger repair on the rail

I should point out that lots of surfers use that product alone without glass for all their dings. I just don't have confidence in it and I tend to bang my rails around a bit so I want something that can put up with that abuse.
