Somehow the thread in the holes of the fin box got damaged and the screws do not hold the fin properly. I tried superglue but I lost the fin again after 5 sessions.

The board is one year old 8,2 nsp

How could I fix it? I am considering applying more (probably, different kind this time) and/or strengthing it with solarez.

Maybe buy the next biggest grub screw you can find, if there is enough material left around the hole. You would probably need to run an appropriate tap down the hole first.

Basically you just make a new thread out of the epoxy after it has hardened

Another option if the fin thread is plastic is to heat up a screw and then screw it in (melting the new thread). But you only get one chance with that - if you don’t screw it in right first time then it won’t work. So this is more the quick and dirty option

I would never replicate the original angle with the drill:)

I have had this and replaced the fin box at the shop. Here it is cheap to do; probably not so much where you are.

The FCS box/plug in the NSP's is a special one. The plug is molded into the sealed board, so even if you crack the plug, the board won't take in water. Not sure if it can be replaced though. I think best to fill and re-tap the hole.

I’ve done it on a sealed bottom epoxy Jimmy Lewis board....they had to cut into the board, replace the futures box and seal it up again.....boys here are so good you couldn’t even tell and cost $15 but from what I have read here that kind of quality repair at that kind of price is unique to Bali (Naruki....give the boys a shout out).

Had it done on a couple pu boards as well but that’s not a big deal.
