Surfing Waves

I have been soaking my wetsuit, overnight, in a large rubber container within a standup shower. However the container is large and cracks because of the weight of the water when full. Has anyone seen or used large containers that could be used for this purpose that maybe have drain plugs built in? Any other ideas other than filling a tub?

I used to pee in my wetsuits when entering the water and would leave it in the back of the dive van so you're way ahead of me.

How high is the lip around the base ? I used to just plug the drain hole and fill up the base of the shower to wash my suits.

I have one of these, for a baby, not wetsuits, but it holds a lot of water and has a rubber drain plug in the bottom.

We used to use a trash can filled with water and wash regulators, BCs and wetsuits in that.

I have a laundry sink so dont have to worry about tubs, but I use one of these to store the wetsuit in the car and I think it will work for your purposes as well. No drain holes but will be easy to empty (just squeeze the sides until its partly empty then tip over) - called flexi tubs

although you dont have to wash out your suit every time you use it. A bit of salt water wont hurt it; and for a quick rinse just use the shower and hang it up

I will be the first one here to break the ice and admit that he has never actually soaked a wetsuit. I hose it off and let it dry. Haven't had a problem with smell or signs of rot. I don't pee in my suit, though. And I have a Flash-Bomb, so I expect the fast drying also helps.

Now that the floodgates are open, I've never cleaned a wetsuit. Every 3 years I buy last year's model, I'm too lazy to maintain mine!

Does anybody remember how bad wetsuits were in the early 2000's? I had a quicksilver in medium tall and I swear the legs came up to my middle calf. What are people rocking these days? I love my excel.

I had a beavertail dive suit which was all that was available on Kauai back in the 60's and early 70's. I used it for paipo boarding and the snap for the beavertail was a problem so I cut off the beavertail and it was just a shortsleve top. I could pee and it wouldn't go in the wet suit

there are two types of people - those who pee in their wetsuit and those who lie about it.

Now that I have 2 nice xcel wetsuits that stay dry on the inside, I dare not pee in them. There's no way I can flush it out while wearing those, plus I really don't want to ruin them. The leaky wetsuits offer some options in case of an emergency, which I try to avoid.
In any case, I use a 5 gallon bucket to dunk and rinse all my rubber after each sesh.

Our water's too cold for me to relax enough to pee. Which is probably more information about my physiology than anyone wants, but there it is.

that's a shame because it's the best way to warm up!

For a wetsuit to function properly, there needs to some water inside. That thin layer of water between the neoprene and your body is what heats up and keeps you warm. That's why it's called a WET suit. A Drysuit on the other hand is suppose to stay totally dry, water getting in can be dangerous.

Cold water always makes me pee right away.....I figured a bonus to make that thin layer of water immediately warm....kind of like getting a head start or running your car with the heater turned on before getting in on winter mornings.

That's my understanding too. And other wetsuits I have/had get/got wet just fine. But my xcel with TDC they seem to almost repel water while they are pretty new and they barely get damp on the inside. So if I ever pee in them it'd take some serious amount of flushing to rinse them out. Brrr.

Haha, what can I say. I'm a total wimp when it comes to cold-ish water
