Surfing Waves

Well the tail of my board got chipped pretty much down to the inside. I drive a convertible and while putting my top down I have to let the tail rest on my foot (yes it hurts) and it ended up sliding off and nailing the ground and putting a chip in the clear. I bought some ding all ultra clear sanding resin but do not have any sandpaper or a clue how to actually use it. Do I just sand it down then gob it on then sand it into shape after it dries?

im not a 100% sure on this but i just thought id give you some feedback on this. get some sandpaper - not too rough, not too fine - and just use it to smooth out the rough edges and clean the area you need to repair. then take the resin, put it on there, smooth it out, let it dry. looking at the depth of that gash, it might be wise to apply one thin layer at a time so you get a consistant and even repair job… no air bubbles and such. ive only done one minor repair job, so thats just my best guess as to how you should fix your board.

is that a popout? if not it's a strange looking ding, if it's foam in the middle and a shell of glass around it, just make sure it's clean and dry and put a big glob of resin on it, then put some packing tape over it (this part is hard to explain) to get it to the original shape, like one around the rails and one over it or something... Did you get just sanding resin so you have to manage catylist amounts? If so, measure how much resin you're using and use one percent of that in catalyst. That gives the strongest raito, it kinda goes off a bit fast bu should be ok for what you're use for it is.

If it's a popout and you just barley hit foam, rough it up with some like 100 grit and put some resin over it just to make sure it's sealed and it should be good.

Yea it looks like foam in the middle with glass around it. I kinda just want to seal it up to make sure no water get to the insides.

alright, scince the tail is one of the most important areas of the board, make sure you get that hard edge on it again, and try to get it back to it's original shape. Also you might want to get some qcells or chopped glass to put in it to make your repair stronger.

This reminds me. I haven't fixed my board in maybe 3 years and I have several damages worst than that .I forgot that I had all those repairs to do but the board still feels like new. Just another reason to buy a new board.
