it's literally called a nose-block or tail-block.
they adorn longboards generally

there are a number of reasons you would want them there
- offer protection on the nose and tail of your board
- give your board a real retro look
- looks cool!

they are glued on to the blank before the board has been finished being shaped so unless you have them on your board already you can't really add them on later.

It's possible to add them later... not really recomended... but possible.

See it's physically possible, you probally wouldn't want to try it, but you could do it. I'd be hard as hell to match up your glass again, get it glued on and the right size under the glass, need to make sure you don't mess up any other glass or air brush work under the glass when you saw the end off, if you're going to do the double style on the nose then you need to get those matched up perfectly..

And what you end up with is the conclusion that it's a ton easier just do do it on the blank first.[/b]
