Card board

One of the very few things I feel bad about when I'm surfing is the non-ecofriendly materials I'm using. So much plastic in the ocean already. It's really inspiring to see them fiddling around with corrugated cardboard here:

Even if it's kind of an infomercial for a packaging company, pretty nifty prototype.

Yeah I guess that is a problem many surfers think about but no one seems to want to go back to the finless solid wood boards the Hawaiians surfed. Lots of minds working on this problem. I imagine the easy solution will be a board made with a 3D printer using ecofriendly stuff although a more acceptable solution for surfers would be ecofriendly blanks and resin and maybe ecofriendly fiber as well. You can tell how well cardboard has caught on by the number of them out in the ocean....

Even more than the boards, I worry about all the neoprene. Boards can at least last quite a few years. My wetsuit's not even two years old and it's starting to get blown out. There are only so many trampolines I can build with recycled wetsuits.
