Hi all,

I have a small (2cm) hairline crack in my Board (Epoxy on PU) and wonder wether I should try to seal it with Solarez or just leave it:



What do you think?

The masters here always say to run your fingernails over it; if you catch on the crack then it needs fixing. I usually put some solarez on those whether or not my nail catches then sand lightly with fine grit sandpaper after.....makes me feel better and I like tinkering around on boards (light tinkering....I don't really know how to do any real repairs....just cleaning, checking them over, checking leash cords, changing out fins and fin plug screws....just like to look, touch and feel the boards )

I'm a 'Big H' person - I just solarez those kind of things because, why not? Wont do any harm and might give some peace of mind. Of course, I guess it affects the aesthetics

oldie, I have those. This is what I do: 1) sand to roughen the area (200 grit), and 2) apply a layer of mixed epoxy.

Surfboards seem to be so transient these days. Get a board and sell it if you don't like it or surf it till it falls apart and get another. But if you want to keep a board over a longer period of time them fixing it properly will help. If it's just a board oh well rube some wax on it and go surf some more. There are many options to fixing boards and depending on finances and what you want as a end product are the way to figure out what to do. The resin is cracked but still water proof. I would hold off on fixing those till I had some other repair to do then sand down and resin over those areas fixing all of them at once. Sooner or later it will pinhole and leak water if you don't. Oddly I don't seem to get those type of dings these days
